Artificial Grass Installation in Pontefract & West Yorkshire

Child and pet-friendly lawns that stay green all year, with crisp block or timber edging.

Artificial Grass

Artificial Grass by a City & Guilds approved team

Artificial grass gives you a green, tidy lawn all year round with no mowing, no muddy patches and no bare spots. It is ideal for families, dog owners and anyone who would rather enjoy the garden than maintain it.

The secret to artificial grass that looks good for years is the preparation underneath. We excavate, lay a compacted, free-draining base and weed membrane, and finish with crisp block or timber edging. We install artificial lawns across Pontefract and West Yorkshire.

  • Green all year

No brown patches in summer and no mud in winter.

  • Child & pet friendly

A soft, clean surface that drains quickly after rain.

  • No mowing

Just an occasional brush and rinse to keep it looking fresh.

  • Neat finish

Block or timber edging keeps the lawn crisp and secure.

Artificial grass or something else? Weighing it up

Synthetic lawns come into their own in deep shade, under heavy paws or on small plots where real grass never recovers. Rental homes and busy family gardens are obvious fits, as are awkward strips beside paths. There are good reasons to hesitate. Fibres get uncomfortably hot in strong sun, and glare from south-facing double glazing has been known to melt patches. Barbecue embers and dropped cigarettes leave permanent marks. Wildlife gains nothing from it, and leaf drop from overhanging trees still means regular blowing or brushing. Owners who enjoy mowing, or who want soil for planting later, are likely to regret the change. A mixed layout can work well, with a modest synthetic play area near the house and planted borders or natural lawn further down the plot.

Infill, joins and other details that decide how it looks

Visible seams are the giveaway of a rushed fit. Every roll has a grain, so pieces must all face the same way, with backing trimmed tight and fixed over joining tape using outdoor adhesive. Fibres caught in the glue leave a line that never brushes out. Rolls should also rest flat before cutting, as tightly wound stock holds ripples that may return on warm days. Infill does several jobs at once. Kiln-dried silica sand weighs the carpet down, supports the pile and limits creasing, and it needs brushing in evenly rather than dumped in heaps. Dog owners may prefer a treated infill that helps control odour. Beneath the backing, a sharp sand layer can shift and show footprints, which is why finer crushed granite or a foam underlay is often chosen.

FAQs

Artificial Grass: your questions answered

Can't see your question? Call Sean on 07860 510073 or read our general FAQs.

Is artificial grass good for dogs?

Yes. It drains well, stays mud-free and is easy to rinse down. A free-draining base is important for pet owners, and that is how we lay it.

Will weeds grow through artificial grass?

Very rarely. We lay a weed membrane under the grass and the base is compacted, which stops most weeds.

Artificial grass or real turf?

Artificial grass is low maintenance and stays green all year. Real turf is natural and cheaper to lay but needs mowing and care. We install both, so we can give you honest advice.
